I never thought I would be interested in numismatics, but history that you can hold is so exciting. Much like castles or portraits you can actually see them- although those get PLENTY of attention. I am not sure why my historian heroes don't talk about coins much. Maybe because it is its own subject of study? Also writing about these things is a way to practice the craft and learn to research, but most importantly I want to have dialogue and build relationships with other history nerds.
