Amy I think your idea about writing about the transition from stay at home mom to working again is a good one! I would read it. I'm sure a lot of other people can relate to it.

Wow thanks for replying. I guess I'm just in that spot where bc I'm new I don't know how it all works; if my absolute passion and interest is English history would it be awkward to talk about this huge transition that's coming up in my articles? Do I separate it? What does that look like? I'm not experienced in this space enough to understand how creators are using it. Can it be a Tudor history account where I write about things that are exciting and maybe not common knowledge to fans like myself who love to learn AND also a space where I can share insights about my personal life?

This is a great question. I think that you can do one of two things...

1. Make a whole other Substack just for your content about getting back into the workplace.

2. Post sparingly about your experience moving back into the workplace on your current Substack. Like 90% posts about Tudor history and 10% personal.

Personally, I would go with #1.

Really interesting! And I appreciate that advice. I still have one child at home and managing a lot at the moment, I only have about 5 hours a week to dedicate to all aspects of writing and trying to get my YouTube channel about the same subject of my substack up and running (it's been over a year) so I don't have the bandwidth to start a new substack. I do think long term "what do I want to do with all of this"? And I doubt there's a way to monetize niche history based YT or Substack in a way that makes enough to do it full time. If I was focusing all of that spare time to writing about going back to work and the process and obstacles I think I would do it in a heartbeat. In the mean time maybe I'll try a post here and there about my personal life and see if it resonates. I don't think they are the same audience lol I appreciate the time and response Tom. Been checking out your amazing articles 😌

Just read your honest post. You are not alone, Amy. I used to have a couple of blogs on blogs port. Wrote a lot then took a long break. I just started my own sub stack but I began by following and subscribing to others. Keep it up

haha thank you Reginald. I found the draft this morning. I am hoping a year from now I'll be happy to see how far I've come from this insecure beginning. I appreciate the encouragement
